Are you a Parent of a Child with Disabilities?
You may have wondered if he or she would ever have the opportunity to go to summer camp like other kids. . . to sleep under the stars, sing around a campfire, write letters home and make new friends. At Camp Onseyawa we want to help your child experience all this and more. If you live in Ontario, Seneca, Yates or Wayne county in New York State then click below to download a copy of the Camper Appication form.
Important Information for
Camp Onseyawa 2020
Dear Onseyawa Family,
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that we will not be able to have the 2020 camping season of Rotary Camp Onseyawa. This decision was made with extensive effort and research into the guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Seneca County Department of Health.
On June 1st, Seneca Waterways Council announced that they would not open Camp Babcock-Hovey this summer. Even if we were able to use Camp Babcock-Hovey, given all that would need to happen to have our camp operate safely, it would be nearly impossible. The idea of maintaining safe practices given the conditions of tent camping, a crowded dining hall, a lack of access to the pool, and limited use of other program areas prevents us from enjoying many camp activities in the relaxed atmosphere that campers traditionally experience. The state requirements of social distancing and wearing masks (among other important factors), especially considering our population that includes individuals with compromised immune systems, makes this decision difficult and upsetting, but we know it is the right one at this time. The safety and well-being of our campers and staff has always been our main concern and our decision is being made with that specifically in mind.
We look forward to when our Camp Onseyawa community can be reunited and we hope you plan on returning in August 2021. We hope our campers and staff keep Camp Onseyawa in their thoughts. Please reach out to us if we can help any of our campers understand and get through this difficult circumstance. We miss and love all of our campers and we can't wait to see everyone back at Camp Onseyawa in August 2021!
