A true summer camping experience for children with special needs
Camp Onseyawa is supported by funds raised by 22 Rotary Clubs covering a four county area in New York State. Clubs from Ontario, Seneca, Yates and Wayne counties conduct annual fund raising events so that these children can attend camp with no cost to their family. Camp Onseyawa gets its name from the first two letters of the name of each county. Legend also has it that by an incredible coincidence it is also an ancient Indian word that translates to "Land of Happiness".
"The mission of Rotary Camp Onseyawa is to provide a camping experience for 8-16 year old children with disabilities from the 4 county area, and to foster independence and acceptance of others through social, recreational and educational aspects of life."
Many of our staff have been returning each year for decades. Our experience in helping children have a great time at summer camp is our biggest asset.
We are always looking for energetic, dependable people who can help children with disabilities have fun in a true summer camping environment. If you think you have what it takes to be an Onseyawa staff member, click up there where it says "Get Involved" to learn more about joining our staff.
